Introduction
One of the famous treks in the world, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a journey filled with natural beauty. Also known as the ABC Trek, it is a traveler’s paradise. The trek explores the southern parts of the Annapurna ranges. Also, the cultural aspect of the trek is yet another attraction on the ABC Trek. The lifestyle and traditions of the Gurung and Magar constitute a significant allure to the trekkers.

Overview of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Your arrival in Nepal signals the beginning of an adventure. Firstly, you prepare for the trek and drive to Matkhu. It will be the starting point for this trek and heads to Chhomrong. The route heads north along the forested trails. From here, you descend to the banks of a river and trek to Dovan. Passing Sinuwa and Bamboo village, the trail takes you through oak and bamboo forest. From here, the trek continues along the Modi River and heads to Himalaya village. Further, you reach Hinku Cave and continue to Deurali.

Then, the trek reaches the Machhapuchhre Base Camp from where you can enjoy the view of Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m). The trek heads west along steep trails to settle at the Annapurna Base Camp. The base camp is a high vantage point to relish the view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. For the return trek, you trek past Bamboo and reach Jhinu Danda. Here, you can relax at the local hot springs and relieve yourself from the aches while trekking. Finally, a short trek brings you back to Matkhu and heads back to Pokhara on a short drive.

It is an easy trek and anyone with decent physical shape and does the trek. Also, the autumn and spring seasons are the best time to enjoy the ABC Trek.

Itinerary

As per your scheduled flight, you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. Outside the airport, our staff will be eagerly waiting to welcome you warmly. After introductions, you head to the hotel, refresh and join the staff again for welcome dinner. Over dinner, you can discuss the details of the trek.

After an early breakfast, you hit the road to Pokhara. You drive along the Prithivi Highway and enjoy the serene views of the Trishuli River. By afternoon, you arrive at Pokhara, and from there, Matkhu is a short drive away. You arrive at Matkhu for an overnight stay.

You wake up early and have breakfast. Then, the trek commences, and you walk through dense forests of rhododendrons and firs. You may also get to spot various birds and animals in the forest. The trail then descends, and finally, you arrive at Chhomrong, a beautiful Gurung village. Upon reaching Chhomrong, you will be greeted with magnificent sights of Macchapuchre and Annapurna South. Overnight stay.

After breakfast, you descend to the banks of Chhomrong Khola and then go uphill towards Khuldighar. You will climb stone steps and cross suspension bridges to reach Sinuwa Danda. The trail then continues through rhododendron and bamboo forests. After crossing the forest, you arrive at Dovan for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, the trek resumes towards Himalayan Hotel. The trail goes uphill and you en route, you arrive at Barahi Annapurna Temple, which is sacred for the local people. If you want, you can offer your prayers here. Then, you continue to climb through the narrow route and arrive at the Himalayan Hotel. From there, Deurali is the next stop. Overnight stay at camp.

After breakfast, you walk along the banks of Modi Khola. After a while, you arrive at Machhapuchhre Basecamp from where you can see moraines of Annapurna Glacier. You rest here for some time while enjoying the view of Macchapuchre and Annapurna, and continue to go uphill through the rocky path. Then, you finally arrive at Annapurna Basecamp and set up tents for overnight stay. If the weather is nice, you will get to see the beautiful sunset view from ABC.

While having your breakfast, enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Gangapurna. You can wake up at dawn to see the beautiful sunrise over the mountains. Then, you clean and pack up before heading to trek. You descend, enjoying the views of mountains and glaciers. You first arrive at Deurali, then Himalayan Hotel, and finally reach Bamboo for overnight stay.

Today, you descend back, taking the same route you took to ascend. The trail goes through the rhododendron forests, and you arrive at Chhomrong Khola. Then, you cross the suspension bridge and ascend to Chhomrong village and again go downhill to reach Jhinu. After checking in at the lodge, you head to the natural hot spring and enjoy a relaxing and rewarding bath.

The trekking ends today as you descend back to Madkhu, the starting point of the trek. Since today is the last day of the trek, enjoy the views and surroundings as much as you can. At Madkhu, you have lunch and board the vehicle heading to Pokhara. If you have spare time before dinner, you can go shopping for souvenirs or relax at a café.

Today, you leave the city of lakes and head back to Kathmandu. You can choose to either fly or drive. The flight takes about 25 minutes, and the ride takes about 6-7 hours as it goes through Prithivi Highway. Once you reach your hotel at Kathmandu, you refresh and join our staff for a farewell dinner.

The trip has finally come to an end, and today you head back to your home. Please make sure that you have all your belongings with you. As per your scheduled flight, our staff will drop you off at the airport on time. We thank you for choosing us to make unforgettable memories and hope to see you again!
